Zsinj was formerly a Grand Moff during Palpatine's reign over the empire, a successful and competent naval officer with access to a vast fleet and a large territory. He was the first imperial leader to break away from the empire and declare an independent fiefdom, and many other such Warlords have followed in his heels. He remains the greatest, and now directly threatens the Imperial Remnant itself.
Form of Government: Military Dictatorship
Ruler: Warlord Zsinj
Territory: 20% of the galaxy
Total naval strength: Equivalent to 25 Sector Groups
Zsinj's territory has since expanded all the way to the Ciutric Hegemony and to the Orinda system
Zsinj's initial powerbase was in the Quelli Oversector, and included his capital world of Serenno as well as Dathomir. He currently keeps the Witches of Dathomir trapped on the world below, preventing travel to and from it, while mining the very valuable source of Lommite on the nearby moon. Lommite is an ore used in building Star Destroyers, and this is the largest known source in the galaxy.
With the chaos of the Emperor's death, Zsinj acted quickly to expand his holdings. Through a combination of diplomacy and naval force, he conquered the Bright Jewel Oversector, allowing him to extend his reach and control over many of the most important trade routes in the entire galactic quadrant.
The Imperial Remnant have thus far tolerated Zsinj's presence, as his broad strip of territory functions somewhat as a buffer between the strongest-held Imperial mid-rim territories and the New Republic, limiting the directions through which the nascent government can attack. It is a three-way stalemate, and hostilities run high.
Significant Star Systems
Bright Jewel System: The center of the Bright Jewel Oversector, the hub for two major trade routes and the location of the planet Ord Mantell. Known as the Junkyard World by many, now that the galaxy has fractured into so many factions, it is a major source of scrapped Durasteel and other valuable materials for starship hulls, and Zsinj has set up a large Rail Gun to shoot the material up to orbit where it is caught by one of his industrial space stations for recycling. His work crews scour the junkyard for catches to send back to this Rail Gun.
One of several space stations orbiting Ord Mantell, and one catering to a broader demographic, is the Jubilee Wheel. It is a port of call for trade of all kinds, but has become renowned as a hub for smugglers, bounty hunters, mercenaries and other free agents.
Mandalore System: Mandalore fell under hard times during Palpatine's rule, and when Zsinj assumed control over their territory, things got much worse. He keeps a large garrison both on the planet's surface and in orbit, and uses the world as a source for elite shock troops. Typically he takes the best of the mandalorian warriors, holding their world and families as hostage to ensure loyalty. There is ongoing resistance on the planet's surface, but without a means to take the fight into space, their struggle is hopeless.
This is also the home for Mandal Motors, a significant vehicle manufacturer. Zsinj now has them working exclusively on war machines for him to use, and his orbital blockade ensures that they can only trade with any other faction by smuggling the goods out.
Taris System: Taris is the key inhabited world for this system. Four thousand years ago, it was a sprawling city-planet, not unlike Coruscant, but orbital bombardment during that period diminished the planet to a shadow of its former self. Several millennia of rebuilding means that a large planet-spanning city now covers much of the planet again, but the ancient bombardment has changed the place forever.
The highest levels of Taris seems like a prosperous, trade-focused city-planet. There are too many landing pads to count, and some are large enough you could land a Star Destroyer on - in fact, Zsinj does regularly, as part of his effort to keep the population cowed. Most walkways are built with high and opaque barriers on the side, so that those walking on them can see the beautiful skyline around them, but looking down is near impossible.
The mid-city is a haven for gangs and worse. Part of Zsinj's efforts in the planet has been to enlist several of the gangs to become enforcers for his cause, he then armed them with military-grade weapons and they have been running roughshod over the mid-city ever since.
The Ruins below are what's left of Taris' original city. A tangled, unnavigable three-dimensional mess of broken duracrete. Force-sensitives feel ill at ease here, as the echoes of billions of deaths can still be felt in the left-overs of the structures where they once lived, and rakghouls seem to be the only creatures who can thrive in the horror.
Anobis System: A rural world, Anobis is split between two factions: first are the miners, heavily tied to trade and thus they offer their support to Zsinj, who has kept the wheels of trade turning and currently helps supply a handful of trade space stations on the planet's orbit. Second are the farmers, who feel self-sufficient and would much rather live in a world free of Zsinj's corruption.
The two factions have slowly been escalating their conflict. What started simply as heated worlds is quickly spiraling into open civil war. With Zsinj's support behind the miners, it is expected that the farmers will have to fight guerilla warfare in order to have any hope.
Listehol System: A system with two worlds, both bastions of some long-forgotten empire, both arid and lawless. Slavery, fighting pits, piracy and more is rife. In each world, one of the larger gangs has been set up as police force, and are played one against the other.
The primary of the two worlds, which carries the system's name, is dotted with small communities and compounds, with the only fair-sized city being built around an ancient spaceport. The spaceport itself is a huge structure, towering over the surroundings to more than sixty stories high, built entirely of dark metal and in a somewhat oval shape. The entire city grows around it, with no other building being more than a third its size. Currently a gang backed by Zsinj and led by former imperial Moff Leonia Tavira is bringing the world to heel.
