This is a map of the Galaxy as it was around the first month of 5 ABY:
Some notes are of great significance when looking at this map:
- The Outer Rim as a whole is very sparsely populated, less industrialized and less strategically important than the rest of the galaxy. The Republic tentatively holds most of it, but though this territory is vast, it is of comparatively lower value;
- Zsinj is currently consolidating his gains. There used to be a fair bit of buffer territory between him and the First Order, and he's taken all of it;
- The New Republic is currently invading Zsinj along his 'panhandle' on the eastern end of his territory;
- Not all of the New Republic's territory is uncontested. Their hold over much of it is very weak, and in some places people aren't even aware that the Republic claims them as their citizens (example: Hutt Space);
- The map omits a great number of small Imperial Warlords as well as single-sector independent groups. They are too tiny to be easily visible at this scale.
Currently, the Imperial Remnant still has a significant advantage when it comes to population, industrial capacity and raw military strength. Zsinj may be somewhat ahead as concerns his access to key strategic resources.
