Elara Durana:
the ISD Retaliator Stood out in Open Space next to Hyperspace communications she had sent the Signal that the Messager Droid had given her, yet for this woman to go to such lenghts, the Red haired and closed eyed woman on the Retaliator command walk had hope the information was real.
[22:42:23] Harla Dane didn't like being sought out. It was much better to be beneath the attention of others, able to keep the initiative, to work on her own time and only towards her own goals. Sometimes, however, opportunities did come knocking, and one just had to take them.
She took precautions. One of the captured freighters - one with an adequate holonet comm system - was sent out into deep interstellar space to serve as a relay, transmitting a holonet signal to be picked up by the imperial on the other side. The hologram that formed was bust-only, showing the pale, dark-haired, cold-eyed woman staring idly at the other while the line was formed. "I understand you had business to discuss?"
[22:46:48]
Elara Durana:
"Ma'am," The Star Destroyers Captain would address his boss Nervously. "this..." the Captain cut off as Harla spoke. The Grand Moff would return the favor her eyes steely yet revealing nothing but a Firm resolve.
"You have something I Require Mistress Dane," Her voice answered the holo. "I am willing to pay good Credit for such Information. I beleive a trade is in Order.
[22:54:17] Harla Dane remained impassive, not a muscle on her face moved, no demonstration of emotion of any kind. "Credits. It often comes down to that." With her flat, monotone voice and lack of expression, it was hard to tell if the words were meant to convey eagerness or derision. Whatever the case, she moved right along with the conversation.
"Tell me what you want, and I will name a price. It may not be in credits."
[22:57:12]
Elara Durana:
"The Recording of you Selling Anzek the Blackwing Virus," Elara said simply. The shock of her bridge officers was clear as she said the words. "You picked a fool to partner with and supply for he doesn't know how to keep his mouth shut when his neck is on the line."
[23:01:45]
Harla Dane:
An eyebrow arched slowly upwards - it was the first movement of facial muscles not strictly necessary for speech, and though it was a very minute motion, in a face quite this still, it stood out tremendously. Harla kept her silence for a time, the gaze dull and distant. Either bored, or distracted with ferocious thinking.
Eventually the eyes sought contact with the other speaker again, and she began, "that is an interesting proposition. In the spirit of curiosity, what do you intend to do with such a recording?"
[23:09:09]
Elara Durana:
"To put an end to all doubts about the guilty parties in The Blackwing outbreak," She answered with partial honesty such would indeed clear the First orders name. yet it was not the only reason of course. "The other Reason is to remove a very tiresome thorn from my side in the form of Anzek..."
[23:13:30]
Harla Dane:
"Very interesting." She was quiet for a time, eyes turning to the side, "the fact stands that if I reveal information confirming anything like what you imply, that would be incriminating for me as well as him, yes? And I don't need that sort of attention." A brief pause, before she adds, belatedly, "I am, of course, entirely innocent of this accusation."
After a due pause to allow that bit of information to sink in, she continued, "I could offer something almost as substantial, and perhaps more heinous. I don't mean to brag, but I have a good mind for pattern-recognition, and access to a great deal of data. I am aware of a fair few men and women who were deep in debt to Dirano's casino on Nar Shaddaa. Over a short span of time, those debts were all cleared. Those people immediately began working hauling freight. I am aware that one of those transport ships has since been captured by the New Republic, and it was discovered that the cargo they are carrying was the Blackwing Virus. They were deliberately spreading it. Would you be interested in this data?"
[23:20:25]
Elara Durana:
"Tracible hardly concret," She would pause though. "tell me what are the odds of this Information being edited?"
[23:24:19]
Harla Dane:
"I could link each individual data point to other, verifiable sources where necessary. The weak link, of course, would be the fact that we don't have access to the ledgers for Dirano's casino, therefore for that data point, all we have are my logs. It is the weakest link, and he may be smart enough to attack it, which should raise some doubts. The rest, however, is quite solid."
[23:41:09] Elara Durana would think on that deep in thought. She was right of course. "Very well...what will this cost me?"
[23:44:05]
Harla Dane:
"I am always interested in keeping up with trade." She smiled then, and it was not a comfortable thing to see. The lips drew back to show entirely too much teeth. The expression set in an unpleasant place between showing satisfaction, and a wild animal doing a threat display. "Regardless of the territory being lost, I am certain your databanks will have thorough data about the optimum supply and trade routes within the territory that Zsinj currently holds. The ones he probably still uses. I could make great use of that knowledge."
[23:46:58]
Elara Durana:
"I can offer you data on Specific Territories not all the data,"
[23:49:49]
Harla Dane:
"Of course. I doubt you would give me information like that concerning the territory you yourself hold. I would have no use for it regardless." There was value in that kind of data, of course. The empire had surveyed the galaxy a lot in the two decades of its existence, there were a fair few secret routes throughout the galaxy, which the Empire had formerly used to ship cargo without as much fear of Rebel attacks. No doubt Zsinj used such routes within his territory.
"If you find it agreeable, I believe this trade of data-for-data is quite satisfying."
[23:58:09]
Elara Durana:
"Consider it done," she nods to her comm in the Crew pit and would await word of a transfer.
[23:59:47]
Harla Dane:
"Of course. I will make sure to annotate the data properly so its reliability can be confirmed. It has been a pleasure, ma'am. Perhaps we could work together again in future - this seems like a very fortuitous start to a friendship."
[0:08:41] Elara Durana would return to bastion a few hours later and with a smile on her face. her thorn would be gone in a few hours
