The last year had not been easy. Although overt imperial presence on Mandalore had been light during the last few years, within months of the Battle of Endor, Zsinj took over the oversector and instituted brutal changes.
The Mandalorian Sector was one of the first targets of his attention. A sizeable fleet jumped into the system, and in the subsequent days, Zsinj negotiated a whole slew of concessions from local leaders. The reality of the situation was simple: Zsinj had enough Star Destroyers in orbit over some of the most important planets in the sector that he could turn the planet's surfaces into glass at a whim. The talks he had with local leaders weren't negotiations, they were extortion.
Every major clan was forced to contribute elite mandalorian warriors to fight in Zsinj's armies, while he held their homeworlds hostage. These men and women were now spread all across the galaxy, prevented from keeping in touch with each other or their families, greatly weakening most of the clans. Concordia was covered in brutal ore mines which blasted away at the surface to get at more of the precious ores below. Metalsmiths and dissenting clan leaders went missing week after week, while the local politics were interfered with: Zsinj gave tremendous support to smaller clans which had long been in disgrace as either weak or dishonorable. Enfranchised with these new alliances, men and women with chips on their shoulders from years of submission and humiliation were left free to vent their frustrations on those who had been their betters. Small-scale clan wars were frequent, and hostilities between most of the clans ran hot and deep.
Zsinj had a stranglehold on incoming and outgoing supplies, and was careful to prevent any organized mandalorian groups from acquiring enough space-worthy assets to be a challenge to his fleet. MandalMotors has been forced to work exclusively on war machines for Zsinj (though they do smuggle some vehicles out to other factions at times). There is some resistance on the ground, but unable to send forces into space to face Zsinj's fleets, their struggle is futile.
